Technical FAQ

Twelve questions that arrive by email, answered the way we answer them: directly, and with the constraint stated.

The questions that arrive by email, in the order they arrive.

How do I choose a grade?

Start from the cure conditions, then the viscosity, then what the surface has to resist. The selector walks the same three steps.

Is there a CAS number?

Yes, for each grade family. Ask the technical contact with the grade code and we send the number with the SDS.

The material gels in the pot. Why?

Water or alcohol reached it. The Si–N bond reacts with both, so a damp container, a wet solvent or a humid day with an open drum will do it. Store sealed, use dry equipment, and do not thin with an alcohol.

Can it be mixed into another resin?

The reactive base series is designed for that. Several grades tolerate addition to epoxy, isocyanate, phenolic and silicone systems, but the ratio has to be tested: ask us and we will tell you which grade has been used that way.

Can it be re-coated after curing?

A cured film does not redissolve. A second coat wets and bonds to the first, but the first film has to be clean and fully cured.

How do I clean a container or a tool?

Before cure, with a dry solvent. After cure, the film is no longer soluble: it has to be removed mechanically, or by soaking in a strong alkali with heat. Plan for that before you mix.

What is the heat resistance?

Three different numbers, depending on the question: continuous service in air, a short excursion, and behaviour after ceramization in an inert atmosphere. This page explains the difference, and every grade page states which one applies.

How large a sample can I have?

From 10 g. Samples are charged, and the sample price includes air freight. Production and dispatch within one week.

How long does delivery take?

From 10 g to tonnes, produced and shipped within one week. Dangerous goods add about two weeks for the packing certificate and the booking.

Can it be shipped by air?

Yes, with the transport documents we hold. The classification depends on the flash point, which is measured per grade.

What is the HS code?

3911900090 — the code our polysilazane grades are exported under. If your broker needs it on the proforma invoice, say so when you ask for the quotation.

Is it REACH registered?

We supply into Europe; registration status is the importer’s question to confirm for the volume and the use. Ask us for the current position in writing rather than relying on a website.

How long does it keep?

Twelve months in a sealed container, stored between 5 and 25 °C, dry and out of sunlight.

Start with a 10 g sample and qualify it on your own substrate.
